Election Worker Portal

Thank you for your interest in being an election worker in Johnson County. Please use the form below to submit your application so that we can contact you for future elections!

Only fill this out if you are over the age of 18. If you are a 16 or 17 year-old student, please click here for a paper application.


  • Resident of Johnson County, Kansas
  • Registered to vote at current address
  • Social Security Card and Driver’s License (a clear/current copy for the payroll department.)
  • Cannot be on the ballot or related to anyone on the ballot in the precinct where appointed
  • Complete the mandatory training
  • Available for the complete day (Please Note: Smoking is not allowed at any polling location)
  • Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • All election workers report to their assigned location no later than 1.5 hours prior to opening
  • Following the closing, all workers assist in closing

Election Worker Job Expectations:

  • Effectively communicate with voters and other workers.
  • Be able to find voter names in the Poll Pad (iPad), check voter ID and be attentive to detail.
  • Election Day is approximately 14 hours long allowing time for set up and tear down.
  • Be able to set-up the voting machines, escort voters to the voting machines, and assist voters on use of the machine.
  • Be able to hold open the door for every voter, as required.
  • Be able to set-up all aspects of the polling place.
  • Satisfactorily complete the four hour classroom and minimum one hour hands-on training.

Electiom Worker Compensation:

  • Election workers receive a stipend for their work. Training is paid
